Hiding in Retrospective Plain Sight

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains blueprints for the house in which you grew up.  The only thing out of the ordinary is that these plans show a trap door in your old bedroom giving access to “The Færie Realm”.

Come to think of it, you remember that that trap door was there, but…  Wait a minute…  How did they do that!?
