This box contains a book.  This book has instructions on how to control fluids (water, fire, thought, passion, et cetera).  It details the proper stances, postures, and gestures, needed to put the fluids in motion as well as the necessary mental, muscular, and breathing exercises necessary to make them effective.

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains a crate of anti-lightbulbs, packaged for retail sale with the trademark of a well-known manufacturer.  When turned on, each bulb suppresses light to an extent exactly opposite that of a similarly-rated ordinary light bulb.  The effect follows an inverse-square relationship, just like an ordinary light source.

Camera of Holding

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains a digital camera.  There are no logos or manufacturer’s insignia on the unit.  The camera has two buttons where the shutter button should be; they are labeled STORE and RESTORE.

If the camera is turned on and the STORE button is pressed, then whatever object is focused at the center of the camera display will disappear.  If that picture is redisplayed on the screen and the RESTORE is pressed, then the previously disappeared object will reappear.

The camera is otherwise normal.

The Addictive Box

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains yet another black box with a red button on it.  Pressing the button apparently does nothing, but you can’t help yourself.  You press the button again and again.  You never want to stop pressing the button.

You Still Can’t Collect Two Hundred Dollars

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains a laminated card marked “Get Out of Jail Free”.  Show this card to a law enforcement agent and you will be released from arrest for any crime.  Even presidential assassination.

Just the Thing for Caturday

You find a box in the attic.

In this box, you find a black box with a red button on it.  pressing the button makes a kitten materialize from nowhere and land at your feet.  The kitten will be completely devoted to you.

Rude Rose

The rose garden of the Mansion lies between the beer garden and the child garden.  Go there.  Wear sunglasses.

Each rose in each bush makes rude faces at you as you look at them.

Better Than Any Agent

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains a list.  Some of the names have check marks next to them.  The check-marked names belong to celebrities.  You do not recognize the unchecked names.

As Good as a Portal Gun

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains a remote control-like unit with ten numbered black buttons and one red button labeled “GO”.  Pressing one of the black buttons has no apparent effect.  Pressing the red button up to five seconds prior to pressing a black button will teleport the person doing so to the location where that black button was last pressed.

What Could Have Been

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains a diary.  The script matches your handwriting.  The entries in the diary describe a life which is almost — but not quite — like your own.

The differences do not seem to be significant.

Perfect for Hacking Sessions

You find a box in the attic.

This box contains air-tight plastic bags of whole-bean coffee.  One cup of coffee brewed from these beans will permit the one drinking it to remain awake for twenty-four hours without any of the effects of sleep deprivation.  Drinking more of this coffee will prolong the effects proportionately.
